Dr. Venessa Madrigal

Since childhood, Dr. Madrigal had an interest in the sciences and she combined that interest with her love of playing sports to learn about the functioning of the human body. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Spanish from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. After college, she worked as a physical therapist aide for 5 years, along with working as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and fitness director, before enrolling in the naturopathic medicine program at National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Madrigal recognizes that each person is unique and multi-faceted, as are health conditions. She strives to combine modern medicine with traditional healing in an effort to provide the best individualized treatment for each person. Her interest in traditional healing began after college when she spent a week in the Peruvian Amazon. While there, she visited a medicinal garden deep within the jungle. Guided by an apprentice to a shaman, she learned of a multitude of healing effects of various plants. She was in awe of the healing power of nature and her life was forever changed.

During her extracurricular training at NCNM, Dr. Madrigal continued to learn about herbal medicine and began to learn about and develop strong interests in anthroposophical medicine, applied kinesiology, traditional indigenous healing, including abdominal massage, and craniosacral therapy. Her medical practice focuses on individualizing treatment for all ages & all conditions. She is quite knowledgeable on a multitude of conditions and ailments though has particular interests in mental & emotional health, addiction/recovery, pre-conception planning, and endocrinology-related conditions, such as andropause/ menopause, PMS, infertility, thyroid dysfunction, and transgender healthcare.
